Ah jet lag, how I loath thee. I woke up this morning to the combined insult of day 2 jet lag and day 1 of European daylight savings time. I’m more than a tad grouchy. Which makes it difficult for me to soften the blow that was last week’s French Fridays with Dorie recipe, Vegetable Barley Soup with the Taste of Little India. I made it before I left for a business trip, thinking that my husband could enjoy the leftovers while I was away. Nope, not so much. He ate half a bowl and then went looking for something else. I didn’t even ask what he did with the leftovers while I was gone.
No worries, he doesn’t seem to be permanently scarred. He’s already asking when I’m going to make next week’s recipe. I think he’s gotten wind that it will be a dessert.
My husband didn’t like this one either! I did cut the amount of spice, because he’s not a fan of Indian spices! I actually enjoyed it! Win some…lose some! Get some rest, Rose! And have a good week!
I’m impressed that the leftovers are no longer in your fridge, whether consumed or discarded. We’re terrible at throwing food out, so it sits until it’s vile. Hope you’re functional soon!
I made this for one, so I didn’t have to endure the scrutiny this week 🙂
I hope your clocks are back in sync. That first week after DSL is a bear
I feel your pain. We “Sprung Ahead” with Daylight Savings Time this past month and it took me two to three days to get my internal clock in sync. Jet lag after a work week is a bummer also. Did you taste the soup? Did you like it? Sorry this didn’t work but I guarantee you that you are going to love this week’s cake. It’s everything that Dorie says it is. Here’s to a better week ahead, Rosa.
My partner hates leftovers, but he soldiered through three bowls of this soup. I loved it. He liked it. We’ll have it again, but perhaps wait until we have more people to share it with. Hope you’re through with jet lag!
Same thing at my place: DH said not for him….??!! EmilyC
What an awful combination! I hate when we change to DST (and also hate jet lag).
